The office is on Bang Khun Thian-Chai Thale Road (ถนนบางขุนเทียน-ชายทะเล), the road that runs south from Rama II Road towards the Bang Khun Thian coast. BY CAR FROM CENTRAL BANGKOK: Take Rama II Road (Highway 35) west out of the city, turn south onto Bang Khun Thian-Chai Thale Road, and the office is on that road at number 1005. Allow 45-60 minutes from Sukhumvit in morning traffic. FROM THE RAMA 2 / BANG BON AREA: You are 15-25 minutes away — the turn-off is signposted from Rama II. BY GRAB/TAXI: Search 'สำนักงานขนส่งกรุงเทพมหานครพื้นที่ 1' or 'DLT Bangkok Area 1'. Tell a taxi driver 'Kor Sor Lor Bang Khun Thian' (ขนส่ง บางขุนเทียน). PUBLIC TRANSPORT: No BTS or MRT station is within walking distance; buses run along Rama II Road but a Grab from the nearest BTS (Bang Wa or Wutthakat) is far more practical.

Area 1 is one of Bangkok's five area offices and the one for the Thonburi side of the river south of Taling Chan. Its listing names Bang Khun Thian, Thonburi, Khlong San, Rat Burana and Yan Nawa as the districts it registers vehicles for.
For a driving licence you may use any office in Thailand. Expat guides describe Bang Khun Thian as noticeably less crowded than the Chatuchak headquarters and the best pick for South Bangkok, Bang Bon and the Rama 2 area.
Doors open at 7:30 per the listing — arriving at opening time is the single biggest time-saver.
Book through DLT Smart Queue before you go. Bangkok offices increasingly reject walk-ins once the day's slots are full.
There is no BTS or MRT station within walking distance. Come by car or Grab.

In Bangkok the certificate is issued at Immigration Division 1, Chaeng Watthana (Government Complex Building B, 120 Moo 3, Chaengwattana Road Soi 7, Lak Si; Mon-Fri 8:30-16:30, queue tickets stop at 15:30) for 200 THB.
