FROM KHAO LAK / BANG NIANG: drive north on Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) to Takua Pa, about 26 km and 26 minutes from Khao Lak, or 31 km and 32 minutes from Bang Niang. FROM KHUEK KHAK: 29 km, about 28 minutes. IN TAKUA PA (the office listing's directions): with the district bus terminal on your left, turn left into Soi Bangkhap Khadi (ซอยบังคับคดี) at the Fondness Hotel sign and continue about 900 m to the office. BY TAXI: ask for 'Kor Sor Lor Takua Pa' (ขนส่ง ตะกั่วป่า), or search 'สำนักงานขนส่งจังหวัดพังงา สาขาอำเภอตะกั่วป่า' in a map app.

Khao Lak lies mostly in Takua Pa district, and this branch is its nearest DLT: about 26 km (26 minutes) from Khao Lak, 31 km from Bang Niang and 29 km from Khuek Khak by road.
The alternatives are a long way off. From Bang Niang the Phang Nga provincial office in Phang Nga town is 62 km (about 1 hour 5 minutes), and the Phuket DLT is 105 km (about 1 hour 45 minutes).
The office is off the main road. At the Takua Pa district bus terminal, turn off Phetkasem Road into Soi Bangkhap Khadi (there is a Fondness Hotel sign at the entrance) and drive about 900 m.
This is a small branch, and its website doesn't say which licence services it handles. Before you come for a foreign-licence conversion or a first licence, phone 076-471-200 and check they can do it that day.

Takuapa Hospital is in the same subdistrict, Bang Nai Si, and is open 24 hours. It is the obvious place to pick up your medical certificate on the way.
Bring two copies of every document plus your passport, visa page and entry stamp.

A licence application needs proof of your Thai address, usually a residence certificate from Immigration. There is no Immigration office in Khao Lak. Phang Nga Immigration moved on 14 May 2026 to 21 Moo 3, Nop Pring, Mueang Phang Nga (076-460-512), about 65 km and 1 hour 15 minutes from this DLT branch. Older guides still show the previous building, so phone first. Fees run 200-500 THB depending on the office.
